Donnelly Rhodes was well-known to Canadian viewers for his roles as Grant “Doc” Roberts in the CBC TV series Danger Bay and Sgt. Nick Raitt in the 1975–1978 television series Sidestreet (1984–1990). On Battlestar Galactica, he played Doctor Cottle, also known as “Doc” (2004–2009).

His mother Henry was a playwright, author, and journalist best known for writing Lulu Street. The National Theatre School of Canada awarded Rhodes his diploma.

Before serving as a technician in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Mr. Rhodes received training as a warden for Parks Canada.
